About Our Harry Potter Club

The primary purpose of our Harry Potter Club is for all of our young patrons who enjoy reading the fantastic stories of Harry Potter, to come together and discuss these books and to introduce them to the vast number of other authors available to them, both classic and new.

For many children, reading Harry Potter is their first experience in enjoying children's literature on their own. And for many others, reading Harry Potter books has made reading a new family activity. Pleasure reading encourages a life-long love of reading better than assigned reading. The Library is also a new experience for many children who have discovered reading, thanks to Harry Potter, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to become comfortable with the library, its resources, and staff. Children are discovering the treasures on our shelves.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the
world."
-Albert Einstein

"There is a boundary to men's passions when they act from feelings; but none when they are under the influence of imagination."
-Edmund Burke

"Imagination grows by exercise, and contrary to common belief, is more powerful in the mature than in the young."
-W. Somerset Maugham

"Every great advance in science has issued from a new audacity of imagination."
-John Dewey

Hogwarts School Song

(Remember to sing this song to your favorite tune!)

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old or bald
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,

Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot.
